Baby Clothes
Baby clothes checklist
Building your baby’s wardrobe starts with a few essential pieces that make dressing and caring for your little one simple and cosy. Short-sleeved onesies are everyday staples — perfect for layering or wearing alone in Singapore’s warm weather. Long-sleeved sleep suits keep your baby snug through cooler nights while offering easy access for diaper changes. And for restful sleep, swaddle bags provide the comforting security of a traditional swaddle with the convenience of a zip-up design, helping your baby feel safe, soothed, and ready for sweet dreams.
What size and how many items should I buy for a newborn?
Newborns in Singapore don’t need a huge wardrobe — they outgrow their clothes quickly and spend most of their time indoors in our warm, humid climate. For the first 0–3 months, around 4–8 short-sleeve rompers or onesies, 3–6 sleepsuits or long-sleeve pieces for air-conditioned rooms, a few swaddles or light blankets, and a handful of mittens, booties, and hats are usually enough.
Local newborn sizing typically runs from 50 cm (NB) to 62 cm (0–3 months). Since sizes vary by brand, it’s best to start with just a few newborn pieces and stock up on 3–6 month sizes once your baby arrives — many Singapore parents find their newborns outgrow the smallest sizes within a few weeks.
